Typhoon trailer with a "Kiss" tongue

Hopefully I'll get something back with a subj line like that. I'm trying to figure out (among other things) how to rig the tongue extender that came with the trailer on my newly acquired Typhoon. It doesn't seem to be a bolt-in, although it does have some holes in it - should it be "sistered"? Any help would really be appreciated (with photos maybe)?
