cape dory 25 lines plans

Post by tashtego »

Does anyone know where I can find lines drawings for a Cape Dory 25? I'd like to make a half model of this boat and haven't had success in my online searches for plans.

Thank you,

Dan

Todd Dunn microyachts. Somewhere in Maine
I don’t think they are originally from CD but look good enough for a model.

I got a set of lines drawings, for the CD-30, from Todd, a few years back. He only had a elevations and sections. that works if you are making a model by taking sections and making frames. I wanted to do lift models and for that you need, elevation and plan views. I had some experience in drafting lines so I was able to create the plan view from the other two perspectives.

It is very generous of him to share these plans, Steve.

Thank you, Steve. I would need the half-breadth and sheer plans to build the half model. I will keep searching because I'm certain the plans must be out there somewhere.

Dan
Email Todd
I don’t know if the plans he sent me are what you need to build a half model.
I believe he made them for someone who was going to build one.
It was a very nominal charge for the plans that I had framed.
Sounds like a nice winter project.
Good luck

Someone could make a brisk business doing LIDAR scans of boats on the hard. Hell, you could even print your own boat hull on a 3-D laser printer. With the right paint job, it could look very nice. Who needs craftsmanship when you have a drone? (yes, that was sarcasm  )

I think I'm hard aground on the island of knowledge when it comes to finding these lines drawings.

I can take my framed drawing to one of those copy franchises if you want.

Pete,

Thank you for the kind offer. Are these three drawings the half-breadth, profile and body plans?
