CD 25D FOR SALE, INTERESTING SITUATION .

Post by Viento »

DEAR ALL,

I have a beautiful CD 25D for sale.

The circumstances of the sale are not ordinary. Let me explain

The boat is in very good condition. I have done may upgrades in the last few years .

Unfortunately due to some evil intervention and despite on time semi professional maintenance (by me at times and other times by a certified mechanic) the engine looks like gave up for good. This was very unexpected and sudden since I never had an issue with the engine, never failed to start.
My mechanic says that the only viable solution is either to rebuild the engine or change it altogether.

The timing is also not right since I have been discussing with my family before this happened the possibility of selling the boat in order to get something bigger since the family and their wishes to sail has grown since I bought the boat.

Since I have the boat the following repairs and upgrades have been done: The electronics are new (raymarine), the non skid has been redone, the toilet in the head changed, changed one of the original seacocks, installed shore power (cape Dory 25D don't come with it), new alcohol stove, new batteries just few months ago, new macerator. The bottom has been completely done and repainted within last year. There were no issues, no blisters. The bottom has been routinely clean by a diver The mainsail is in near new condition. The headsail is older but in good condition with many years left as per my local sailmaker who restitched the sail and refused to make me a new one since the sail is in good shape. The bilge is as dry as it can be.

THIS IS NOT A PROJECT BOAT. EXCEPT FOR THE FACT THAT IT NEEDS A NEW ENGINE. As I said I have been sailing this boat until a month ago with no issues.

It breaks my heart to try to part ways from her and I have been considering keeping her but since the plan was to sell her in order to get a larger boat I am offering this beautiful opportunity to have a near new boat once the engine is in placed. With a new engine this boat will last decades with no further big issues. My mechanic says that he could have the engine placed in 2 weeks. Whoever buys the boat could be sailing anywhere in 2 weeks without further need to do anything else.

With all the upgrades I did I know I am losing money but I am also aware that the engine is a big part when one considers the price of the boat

My ask takes in consideration the cost of a new Yanmar 1GM 10 and labor. The new Yanmar 1 GM 10 is around $5700.00 (currently 1 GM 6.5) and labor is around $2000.00. I am adding some incidentals to that number therefore my asking price is $9.500 OBO

The boat is located in St. Augustine FL.

Thanks
Ben
