CD 27 - Cleaning the fiberglass liner
The liner of my CD27 is dirty and likely has a little mildew going on. Anyone have a favorite solution or technique to tackle this? Drew Frye has a good piece on treating mildew on fabric, but not sure if this is a good idea on other materials.

Two options that have worked for me.
1. A sponge
2. Soft Scrub with bleach (not too much) or diluted dish detergent with a little bleach added ( again not too much)

Thanks a ton, Dick. The more I crawl around the boat, the more I see where cleaning is needed. A little orange dish detergent should help the scent as well!

I've had good luck using Spray Nine cleaner on my boat. Practical Sailor chose it as a best buy cleaner a few years back.

A word of WARNING
-Bleach works.
-Vinegar works
WARNING-- do NOT mix the two!! Chlorine Gas or something similar is produced.
Bad news in a small boat cabin.

ehhh.. I think you are wrong on that. The dangerous combination is mixing bleach with ammonia.RC James wrote:A word of WARNING

Re: CD 27 - Cleaning the fiberglass liner
Both are BAD stuff! And extremely tough on the lungs and eyes. Cleaned a bathroom ceiling w/Clorox&Vinegar, and didn't think to count the electrons....... Knew something was wrong pretty quickly......Luckily, it was a big bathroom, the window was open, and I didn't stay too long. Coughed for 2 days.
Don't mix Ammonia, Vinegar, or Clorox w/anything other than water.
It can & will destroy your lungs.

Can confirm the soft scrub w/ bleach is a champ. And despite it being hot has can be out today, managed to not gas myself. So, a good weekend.
