Visiting New Haven CT
A cursory investigation indicates that visiting New Haven directly using New Haven Harbor facilities is not really practical. The harbor just doesn't seem accommodating. Therefore we are considering either Milford to the west, or Branford to the east, and thence using public transport into the city to "tourist." I wonder if anyone here can offer an opinion on which town is preferred, perhaps suggest particular facilities, public transport, etc. All suggestions appreciated.

Your Right New Haven Harbor doesn't have much for facilities. I haven't been to Branford but you could try Clinton Harbor. I would head up to New London if you want more facilities and public transport. Or the nicest area I think is Mystic.

I suspect"graced" is something of an overstatement at my age. Did you mean "grossed"? (smile) In any case, thanks for the shout out.barfwinkle wrote: ... Its been way too long since you've graced these pages with your presence ...

I believe Pequonnock Yacht Club has transit space and there is my favorite restaurant Shell and Bones there.

Re: Milford
Milford is great. Head all the way the river until you can go no further and get a slip from Milford Lisman Landing Marina (town dock). You will then be right in the heart of town and within easy walking distance of many amenities. Be sure to get an ice cream cone from Scoopy Doos, right there at the marina. It’s a nice town to walk around in. Nicer than New Haven.
