My CD27 had its mast unstepped for the first time in a couple of years. There are some minor areas of corrosion at the masthead, base of the mast and also in the mast step. Nothing major mind you but it needs tending to before restepping. Firstly, what would you use to remove the corrosion? Secondly, what would you refinish these areas with once the corrosion was removed? A surveyor once told me that the best friend a mast ever had was a good coat of wax. He even suggested removing the corrosion and just waxing. Any tried and true suggestions?
