Typhoon rudder repair - seeking advice

Post by typhooner »

We plan to revive a storm damaged and mothballed CD typhoon weekender this Spring...

I'm looking forward to the project, and most importantly, looking forward to sailing her!

The most obvious substantial issue is that the rudder blade disengaged (completely) from the bronze frame that it was formerly attached to. Rudder shaft and attached bronze rods seem okay. I'd be happy to communicate with anyone who has successfully (or not) dealt with a similar issue. I'd prefer to leave the rudder shaft in place while re-attaching the rudder.

I'll do my best to log progress of the project here for others to share...

Thank you.

Speak with Bruce Sanders at
Rappahannock Yachts
Irvington, VA
804-438-5353

His yard has done this repair and others on a whole fleet of Typhoons.

Thanks very much Mark. We're still blanketed in winter weather here but when I get started on this I now know who to call. Thank you again.
