My 77' cd27 has numerous cracks on top. The gel coat no longer has that bright glassy look either (even after compound and polish). I'm thinking that a full covering of gel coat or some other solution would restore the top side to a bright new look.
I read through the earlier posts but would like to know what a complete gel coat job requires. What needs to come off before this job get done ? Is gel coat the best answer ?

Re: revisiting gel coat
mark,
repair the cracks, clean the top and paint it with a good two-part epoxy paint. if you're not a spray painter, get a pro to do it. brushed or rolled on will never look good.

I believe after you do your homework on all the options you will come to the conclusion that a linear polyurethane topside refinish job is your best option from all perspectives.
Examples: Awlgrip, Imron, Porter, Sterling, et al.
