Coast Guard Checks in western Long Island Sound

Post by Bob Owens »

Members of our yacht club at City Island, NY, report experiencing or witnessing safety-inspection boardings of sailboats by C Guard in recent weeks. Nothing difficult or unpleasant, but reports are that the check-list seems always to include the long-required overboard discharge warning plaques. Such boarding checks of sailboats in the western Sound are usually pretty rare, especially in the fall, so there may be a special new CG emphasis underway. FWIW

Your y-valve should be locked in the holding tank position. You can lock it simply with a couple of cable ties.
