Newport Intl. Boat Show, Sept. 14-17, 2017

Post by Cathy Monaghan »

Is anybody else planning to attend the Newport Intl. Boat Show in Rhode Island? Right now we are planning to go on Sunday after our trip to the CDSOA Annual General Membership Meeting in Mystic, CT.

Hope to get there either Thursday or Friday. I try to go every year. Lots of vendors in numerous tents. Some good buys with some vendors, but bring lots of money if interested in buying a boat.

The boat show was a bit disappointing. I didn't see anything I wanted -- nothing. The only boats of interest were the little daysailers, the rest were humongous, beamy monstrocities that nobody can afford. Not much new in the tents. The items of most interest to me were the propane powered outboards and a transom-mounted hydroelectric generator.

Yep, same old stuff every year. Mostly jewelry. (I do love jewelry, but..) I did speak to a local canvas/cushion maker and NuTeak vendor for my Typhoon.:)
