Replacing wet deck core for a CD28.
Going to replace balsa with corecell (?).
I wonder what thickness shall I get ? 1/2 in ? What is the best cell foam core to use ?

I used 3/8" Core-Cell for repairs of both the cockpit floor and deck.
I don't know if it is the best, but it was easy to work with and produced good results.

I don't have a 28 so I don't know how thick the core is in the cockpit sole. Before I recored the Far Reach I drilled some t st holes and measured the thickness of the core. Turns out it is 1/2" on the 36. I recorded with balsa. Corecell is very good. But balsa is stiff and light and if you keep the water out it will last indefinitely. I think either is fine and I suspect you won't be using that much. Don't let the job intimidate you. It's not that hard. There are a lot of folks that can advise you after they have successfully recorded their own decks.
