Questions on iNavX

Post by Capt Hook »

I use an aviation ap called ForeFlight that allows me to download aeronautical sectional charts to and iPad and move seamlessly from one sectional to another.

The little bit of reading I've done about iNavX it looks like I would download various nautical charts.
Question? Does the ap move seamlessly from one chart to the next or can you only view one chart at a time on the iPad?

Next question? Does it work with Active Captain and if so do you somehow have to download Active Captain data or do you need an internet connection?

Don't use iNavX but do I do use Garmin and Navionics apps. Both move seamlessly between charts.

The Garmin app integrates with Active Captain.

Will Garmin app work on iPad or only Garmin devices?

I use it both on an iPhone and iPad. They are not great in strong sun light however.

If you purchase the navionics charts or some of the other brands they carry through the inavix website they work seamlessly from one chart to the next. If you download the free NOAA US Gov charts they work just like a paper chart. You have to open each chart individually. The NOAA charts are free and you can download them through the inavvix website. There are thousands.

It's a very good program. Though I lean on paper charts, hand bearing compass, and my sextant as primary for navigation I do occasionally use the ivavix program.

I don't use active captain so I don't know if there is an interface for it.
