Cockpit locker hatch thickness

Post by s2sailorlis »

Awhile back someone had asked the thickness of the cockpit hatch core.

I just happened to be mounting an autotiller and snapped a picture depicting the core...good news it was bone dry.

Total thickness is about 1/2" including the fiberglass sandwich. I glassed in a 1/2" plywood backing plate (sloppily) for a total of 1".

The wood core looks to be just over 1/4".

Of note I also drilled a hole for mounting the power socket on the vertical cockpit wall just below the hatch. That was also 1/4" thick...these are so we'll built!
