Yanmar 1gm 10 anode
I have a 2009 yanmar 1gm10 in my cd 25d. Having trouble locating the sacrificial anode in the cooling jacket, I believe its down the port side somewhere but I cant see it. Any helpful hints?

Hi Martin,
I have a 1983 1GM, but I believe it's the same block as your 1GM10. The sacrificial anode on my motor is on the port side (of the boat)behind and underneath the alternator. To replace it, I removed the alternator and then had clear access to the anode.
All the best
Bob

Martin when I say I removed the alternator, I didn't disconnect it electrically. I just loosened the belt tension and pulled the hinge bolt so I could move the alternator out of the way so I could see the anode cover and get a wrench on the bolts.

Hello Martin:
I did exactly what Bob L. did. You can reach it from the port side cockpit locker but it is easier to just loosen the alternator and move it out of the way. I have 1982 CD 25D with a Yanmar 1GM. Use a gasket sealant like Permatex Ultra Copper gasket sealant or similar.

Re: Yanmar 1gm 10 anode
I wonder if adding a sealant to the anode threads would insulate it from the block???? I use a dielectric grease. My anodes do not have a gasket.

The sealant is applied only to the gasket not the anode threads.moctrams wrote:I wonder if adding a sealant to the anode threads would insulate it from the block???? I use a dielectric grease.

Does anyone know if a MD7A has anode(s), if where are they located?

Nope, not on the raw water cooled MD7A, anyway.Keith wrote:Does anyone know if a MD7A has anode(s), if where are they located?
