Barlow 15 winch differences
I took the Barlow 15 winches off of my (new to me) 1978 CD25 for servicing, and noticed differences between the port and starboard winch. I assume that one of the winches is a later replacement. I'm posting photos as a subject of curiosity, but am also interested to know if anyone recognizes the years of production. You'll notice in the pictures that differences are atop the base and top cap, as well as the cap screws. Also, does anyone know where to find a 5/16-20 (vs. -18) socket cap screw to replace the slotted one on the left? The 1/4-20 on the right was easy to find at Home Depot. Thanks.
Re: Barlow 15 winch differences
5/16 X 18 and 24 are standard sizes. 5/16 X 20......perhaps it is a 8mm metric screw?

This may also be of some assistance to you.

It seems to describe the cap screw as a 1/4 20 UNC.

Re: Barlow 15 winch differences
Thanks for the information Jim. The diagram seems to correspond to the winch on the right, as a 1/4-20 worked perfect. On the other I ended up going with a 5/16-20 hex cap screw until I can find a proper socket cap one that fits. An 8mm was slightly too large, and they didn't have any 7mm in stock to test.
