Has anyone had problems with cracks in the deck inboard of the main chain plates on a typhoon? How did you repair the cracks? Did you have to reinforce the chain plates in any way?

Sounds like the common deck/cabin sag problem. A few questions. Do you have a mast support post in the cabin? If not, is your rigging always slack? Sight along the fore deck aft to the cabin. Is there a slight depression in the deck around the foreward part of the cabin? With deck/cabin sag, the cabin side walls tend to push the deck down around the chain plates causing cracks just inboard from the plates. Don't worry about the chain plates, a mast post (and jacking up the cabin back up to where it is supposed to be) will take care of the sag and keep the cracks from speading. If they are not deep, ignore them until painting time then fill and sand. There are lots of entrys on the Cape Dory page about post installations.
