Last summer our newish (4 years) Hurth ZF-10 trans died. Our mechanic put a new one in and we voweled to change the fluid and check the lever adjustment every oil change.
Last fall, friends of ours had their ZF-10 quit just as they we're leaving Nova Scotia. They put a new one in and headed for Florida, changing the fluid religiously. Coming back home the new trans died in Oriental, NC. Fortunately, they were still under warranty but gees, have these darn things become that fragile?
We've been looking at the Beta as a possible replacement if our ZF-10 dies out of warranty on our long cruise this summer. They appear to be CHEAPER than the Hurth rebuild.
Anyone have experience and thoughts on the Beta trans?
Cheers!
Terry
