Carter Brey on PHC tonight

Post by Joe Myerson »

For those Cape Dorians who spend Saturday nights by the radio, you might have heard Garrison Keilor's Prairie Home Companion broadcast from New York. One of the featured guests was a certain former Cape Dory owner who spends his off-boat time playing cello with the New York Philharmonic.

Maybe I'm the only old fogey on this board who still listens to PHC.

You are not the only Cape Dory PHC fan. I have been listening to it for as long as I can remember. During the six year rebuild of the Far Reach I routinely went out to my shop on Saturday night and putzed about for two hours just to listen to GK, his troupe, and guests entertain with music, witty dialogue, and master storytelling.

I was very saddened to learn GK is retiring.

This won't be the first time that he retired, maybe it won't be the last time either

I'm in contact with Carter virtually everyday. He's a very busy boy. Still sails quite a bit. He went from his CD25 Mary Ellen to a Sabre 28 Delphine and last year he jumped in with both feet and bought a Sabre 38 Atlantea. He was working on her yesterday and she should be launched pretty soon!

By the way...he is a SUPERB cellist and a prince of a guy!!

I regret that I never met Carter in person. His humorous contributions to this board were priceless, and his musical talent is remarkable.
