CD 26 Hull Decorative Tape Below Teak Rail-Replace

Post by dgsail »

The brown taping on the hull that runs bow to stern, underneath my teak rail has rubbed off from the friction of fenders at the dock. I would like to replace it and prevent this in the future.

Has anyone found a tape to replace the original?
What are the steps for this project?

When I hang the fenders from the life lines, how can I prevent them from rubbing the tape away?

It's known as a "cove stripe". I believe you will find everything you need here;

It would be difficult to advise you on fender placement without a photo of your particular situation. Usually it's just a matter of raising or dropping them a few inches but I imagine if it was that simple you'd have done it already. Perhaps a fender board is your solution. That would keep the fenders off your hull completely.
