Mantus Swivel

Post by M. R. Bober »

I just bought and installed a Mantus swivel (S2). Anyone else using one?

I was updating my rode.

Mitchell:

I am not sure if you subscribe to Practical Sailor. On the chance that you do not subscribe the March 2016 issue of Practical Sailor has a two page review of the Mantus Swivel.

http://www.practical-sailor.com/issues/ ... 956-1.html

To read the whole article you have to subscribe.

I read my paper copy. PS's basic conclusions are:

1. No convincing reason to add a swivel to an anchor rode

2. If one is added they prefer a galvanized swivel so that you see when it needs to be replaced.

3. If a sailor wants stainless the Mantus Swivel is stronger, better made, and more reliable than other swivels in the same price range.
Fair winds,

Roberto
