I am considering purchasing a 30 ketch and would like to hear opinions for other owners or those with knowledge of the boat. This boat is listed as a 1991 but in doing some research I can only find production thru 1987, does anyone have any insight on this? Thanks in advance for all replys.

Re: Cape Dory 30 Ketch
Maybe it is a typo and is in fact 1981. I own a 77 ketch and am really pleased with it. The boat performs well (especially in heavy weather) and is comfortable in both accomadations and function. I singlehand most of the time and have found the rig to be easy to handle and adjust for different weather conditions. It is not a speedy boat but I will trade speed for ability any time.

Re: Cape Dory 30 Ketch
I have a 1977 CD30 Ketch and am very happy with it. Search the past listings for "ketch" or "CD30" for many comments on the ketch and cutter rigs. The Hull ID number molded into the stern transom will provide the year of manufacture. I did't think they were making ketches in 1991, but it may have been a special order. Other than the sail rig, the CD30 ketch and cutter are the same, although the interior design did change somewhat during the production years.

Re: Cape Dory 30 Ketch
Ditto the other replys. Have owned my 77 CD30 for ten years & love it. Very sea-kindly, ruggedly built & ketch is a snap to single-hand. She's not fast, but you'll definetly get thereJim Heavin wrote: I am considering purchasing a 30 ketch and would like to hear opinions for other owners or those with knowledge of the boat.
