A Few Nice Shots ...
One more week and the season is over ...
Took Jerezana around to the fuel dock for a pump-out ... It was mild and the light was nice so I got the camera out ... still don't have cowl on my dorade box - that's about the ONLY thing Jerezana did not come with. I find the open box pretty useful as a spot to stash things, a few sail ties and bungees - the fuel and waste water "key". Maybe I'll just never get the cowl, although one of the ones with the red interior would look pretty sporting I think ...
For the Fall I've had the little working jib on ... so the sheets lead to the coach roof blocks and then aft.
When I single-hand onto a dock I have a 60' line which I cleat fore and aft so when I step off I can have both ends of the boat in hand ... this has made coming into my slip a little easier too ...
Boy do I feel lucky to have this boat ... !
cheers, Fred

She's a beauty, for sure!
I have a Ty at the moment and as soon as I'm confident sailing her, a 27 would be my next step. You've given me something to aspire to!

Nice looking boat - I have to say that the weather and light this fall in the north east has been just spectacular.
What color is your canvas? I'm redoing mine this winter and am all over the map on color options.

Great boat; great shots! And I like your idea of the continuous dock line. This weekend I'm moving the Ty to a slip for a couple of months and I will use your technique. Thanks for sharing!

Your boat is looking beautiful.
"When I single-hand onto a dock I have a 60' line which I cleat fore and aft so when I step off I can have both ends of the boat in hand ... this has made coming into my slip a little easier too ..."
Not to sound to harsh but I don't understand this logic. Unless you need a 60' line to pivot off of when leaving the dock it would seem far better to have two 30' lines. In that case it would be far better to have a long line on the stern cleat so you didn't have to go forward to uncleat the bow end. Dealing with a 60' coil of line and then running it outside of the shrouds and lifelines seems like a huge PIA. If you should come into a dock with an attendant how are you going to toss that line ashore? Once you cleat off one end you have effectively shortened your dock line by the distance between the cleats so you now have only very short lines to secure the bow and stern. In areas with large tidal ranges or where the cleats or pilings are far apart you might need 30' of line at each cleat. What if there are obstacles between the the cleats? Say a tall pilings for instance. I single hand most of the time as well and find it very easy to step off of the boat with two manageable coils of line and secure each one individually. I would cut that puppy right in half.
Maybe you could ask Santa for a nice bronze cowl vent for Christmas, Steve.

Re: A Few Nice Shots ...
A very lovely boat and yes, it was great light to shoot her in.
I was particularly pleased to see someone other than me fix their Lifesling bag over the stern light. On Femme, I didn't want to mount the Lifesling under the solar panel or charcoal grill in order to keep from hindering its immediate use. This was the only option on the stern rail but it seems to work. It was only the outside cover I needed to cut out, not the actual bag. The instructions are also fully described on the inside cover lid. Probably time for a new bag though.

Re: A Few Nice Shots ...
That's what I did too Paul, just cut a little square in the cover ... heres hoping I never have to use it
When I have company on the boat I always do a little walk thru about deploying the Life Sling, and if they are non sailors, how to stop the boat (let go of the tiller and un-cleat the sheets) ... I figure the best thing a non sailor can do (if I go overboard) is stop the boat as much as possible after deploying the sling quickly ... I also show how to start the motor ...

Adam,
A previous owner had the dodger and sail cover made ( as well as the frame. It is Sunbrella fabric ... but I am not sure what the actual color is. When I have a chance I'll see if the color is on a receipt and send you an email.

Re: A Few Nice Shots ...
Steve,
Just my way of skinning the cat ... most of the time I find myself coming into my slip unassisted, as well as the pump out dock - so if I want to have a bow and stern line "in hand" when I step off from the cockpit, I have to have run the bow line (or in my case "bow end") outside of the shrouds and back to the cockpit.
I just seem to prefer having the one line. If someone is there to lend a hand I just throw the single mid line coil ... anyway it works for me. I think I am going to get a bright red length of line so I can just yell to prospective help, "just grab the red line!".
cheers ... Fred

Re: A Few Nice Shots ...
I have a red main sheet for the same reason, Steve.
Re: A Few Nice Shots ...
The color appears to be what Sunbrella calls "toast."
