Looks like it has been stripped. No boom, no sails, no anchor, missing furler, etc.
Also it seems to have a water issue that is found in one of the photos-sunk maybe?

Notice all the goodies in the sink. Someone has been trying to fix it up, including a paint
job on the engine.

This note is in the body of the listing.

Donor states*, the boat sleeps 6 people. All booms, vangs, travelers, winches and blocks are removed from the boat and stripped/prepped for refinishing.

If I didn't already have two big boats I would be all over this...

The NADA book on an 82 36 is 34K lowest. So anyone with USAA can take a loan out for up to 34K and buy that boat for ~10K and have 24K to make it perfect again.

Gamble that it does not have damage under the water, but would be a good return and a great boat and it looks more like an estate donation, but could be wrong.

Dang.

I thought the bids would have been fast and furious once word got out. You can't go wrong at this price point.

Wow,
Something must have changed, as the photos I looked at last week (?) when it was first posted, looked great, ;oaded, well cared for and well maintained. How could that happen? It made me sick, as I would have jumped all over it 10 years ago, but am now retired, and impossible. I was drooling and impressed when I looked at the included photos, and thinking, something must be wrong with the story. I guess I was correct, sorry to hear that. The pics must have been from a previous time. it will be expensive and labor intensive to take the old girl back to normal again.

Last 10 minutes and it's at $13,000. I'm too risk-averse.

I thought it would go for $15K.

I bowed out at $12.6K.

Did anyone on this board win?

Back in September 1999, S/V Windchime was owned by Jody Smith. She posted apparently only one time on this board.

$15,000 plus some incidental costs is a pretty good deal although the photos do make her appear "skeletonized".

I did one bid at 12.9 and tried another just above 15K but the bid did not go thru....turns out that one has to has to preregister for a bid 15k or over. I suspect that the boat would have gone for a bit over 15K since bids over the winning amount would have been rejected if the bidder had not pre-registered their credit card. I learned a lesson...on the other hand I will be alive tomorrow since my wife would have killed me if I had picked up a second Cape Dory in the same year!

While it looked like somewhat of a project it sure had nice bones!

I thought about bidding a little over $15K too. I didn't know about the pre-registration either.

My wife would have had a similar reaction. We just bought our CD-31 in July.

I had shown her the pix but we hadn't discussed bidding on it.

I'm sort of a believer in better to ask for forgiveness that permission.
