Any ideas about this piece?

Post by RLW »

This "Y" cable was aboard my Typhoon when I purchased her. Any idea what it might have been used for? Thanks for your thoughts.

Looks identical to the sheet attachment cable on 1960's vintage Alcort Sunfish hulls.

Interesting, Skip. The longtime local CD dealer is also a longtime Sunfish dealer. I'll check in with them on the subject next time I visit. Thanks. So no Ty application I guess.

I had one of those, too, and I also couldn't figure out what it's for. It was attached to the aft mooring cleat and was a bugger to get off. I can't wait to find out what it's for!

I agree - looks like a Sunfish traveller - I grew up racing Sunfish and remember it well.
On a Typhoon the wire attached to the aft cleat could be used as a safety leash/locking means for an outboard engine left on the motor mount.
