The Carolinas Fleet is planning a cruise to Beaufort, NC for the weekend of May 2-3. Dick and Carol Turner are the “Cruise Captains,” aboard S/V Mystical. Plans are to rendezvous at the Beaufort Town Docks for the weekend.

The Annual NC Maritime Museum Wooden Boat Show and the 7th Annual Beaufort National Boatbuilding Challenge is back again for another great year. These events feature historic vessels, nautical crafts, boat models, traditional skills demonstrations, and rowing races captained by the boat builders. A variety of small wooden boats will be on display during the show. Admission is free and open to the public.

No planned departure time is scheduled from the Neuse River/Pamlico Sound. Some captains may elect to depart on Friday in order to get a jump on the weekend. The Beaufort Town Docks monitor Ch.16 and can also be reached at 252-728-2503. When reserving a slip, request the East end of the facility. That location has an adequate number of slips, which should enable the “Fleet” to be together. While motoring down the ICW to Beaufort, as a reminder, the Bascule Bridge at Gallants Channel opens on the hour and half hour.

Sunday departure times will be at the discretion of the various captains. Please contact the Mystical crew with any questions, as well as letting us know if you plan on joining in on the fun so we will know how many CDs to be on the lookout for!
