Orion's new main is nearly completed

Post by Jim Walsh »

Made with pride in America! Orion's new mainsail will be completed in a couple more workdays. Can't wait to bend it on. Last summer she got a new staysail and a new yankee. I hope ORION appreciates what I've done for her.

Nice! Raven will be so envious of that bright, flat, crispy, main. You are now set for some serious miles, Steve.

You're right Steve. The best description is "crispy". :D

Don't know for sure. I've been told, while making inquiries before I placed the order, that all cloth is now woven overseas and some are "finished" here since it is the finishes which are proprietary. Next time I stop by my sailmaker I'll pose the question. Maybe someone will respond here that has some inside knowledge.
My boat was just launched this morning and my mast stepped this afternoon. I'll be tuning the rig and getting the sails on tomorrow. I'm looking forward to seeing the new main in its new home. Maybe the first sail of the season will happen before the week is out. It was gusting in the 30's today so it'll have to quiet down a bit.
