A friend of a friend had a fire on his 40’ Beneteau this winter while he was aboard with two heaters on doing some maintenance. From what my friend told me the shore power inlet and cable were at fault. The circuit breaker on the shore panel did not trip and several feet of wiring on the boat melted and caused the fire. If the owner was not on board the boat would have gone up in flames. My friend made me aware of this web site and the author’s findings. That is why my friend and I are upgrading to a “Smart Plug” shore power cord set and a 30A X 125V AC inlet.
