Cape Dory Typhoon parts

Post by Tim Slater »

I have just acquired a 1981 Cape Dory Typhoon weekender here in Florida that I am planning to restore. When putting the mast up the port deck mounted shroud plate broke in two ! ( corrosion?).They are approx. 4 inches long with tabs at 90degrees for the turnbuckles. Does anyone have a source for these SS plates as well as other rigging parts, shrouds etc.. Rig Rite say they do not have them and may have to be specially made. I am planning on replacing both sides! Thank you , Tim Slater

I have never heard of the plate breaking. I have seen many of the bolts fail. Those plates could be easily replicated at any good sheet metal shop.
