Hello,
Has anyone had any experience with Boothbay Region Boatyard, or Johanson Boatworks in Rockland? We are perhaps going to need a yard for a repower with a Beta 14 into a CD 28.
And the longshot...does anyone know the thread size for the oil pressusre switch on the Universal M-18? I need to get a test gauge, and was hoping to know the tread size needed.

Hi Brain
I put in a low oil pressure alarm last year and had to remove the switich as part of the install.
It is a 1/8 npt.
This is the mounted on the rectangular block on the back of the engine by the heat exchanger.

Thanks much. Did you install a gauge, or alarm only? If gauge, which one, and what is your pressure like?

Installed the low oil/hi temp alarm kit sold through several chandelries.
No gage.
As for the pressure I didnt check to see what was there since there were no signs of low oil pressure problems and the light and alarm both shut down quickly during cranking for startup.
Are you having oil pressure issues with yours?

Re: Maine boatyards/longshot question
I had chartered with Johanson for about ten years untill 2005 when I finally got my own boat. I was very familiar with Peter Johanson who oversees the yard and Mary his wife who manages the charter operation. My mooring is in the Boothbay Harbor area but I still have Johanson haul, store and maintain my Cape Dory MS 300 from Rockport. They did a repower three winters back for me and I was very happy with the work. They are a family operation and much smaller than the Boothbay Region Boatyard but they can do just about anything and their rates are considerably less than a lot of yards.Brian2 wrote:Hello,

One of their projects, a hull up restoration of a circa 1958 wood hulled 38' (or so) Bunker and Ellis was featured in Maine Boats and Harbors' "Boats of the Year" issue in 2011. It may have been on the cover. It looked like a new wooden boat. I think the owner uses it as the race committe boat for NY Yacht Club races in Newport. Johanson also does quite a few bare hull fit outs. They have a great mechanic (Jonesy) who has made "house calls" for me on several occasions. I have no problem recommending them.
