Typhoon Senior Rudder Problems

Post by David1952 »

I have a 1985 Typhoon Senior...
The bottom of the rudder is lose at the base where it slides into the bottom of the keel. There's seems to be a lot of play. Is there some sort of bushing that belongs in there?
When turning leeward the rudder seems to bang, and there also seems to be a lot of weather helm. I'm thinking these problems are all connected to the lose rudder?
Any suggestions would be appreciated, Thanks, David

Dave. I am only familiar with the 25 replacement of the shoe/ gungeon which I noticed the same problem in the water. Once I hauled at the end of the season the shoe had a big chip which meant why I had a problem. Are you in the water or out to check on the shoe?
