1976 Cape Dory Typhoon Weekender - HIN CPDD1156V76C
“MOCO” is ready to sail. I have raced her once this year and been out several times as recent as last weekend (08/05/12).
Pros:
• Cheapest Ty Weekender on the market - Asking $2,900
• Includes the original motor mount and winches
• No soft spots on the deck. Cleanest interior I have seen in a Ty yet.
• Watertight – no fresh or salt water is making its way in.
New:
• Portholes resealed with new Lexan
• Chicken foot
• Scupper hoses
• Cockpit cushions
• Bottom paint - Bluewater CSC with algae growth inhibitors. Good for 2 years.
• Lower shrouds
While "MOCO" is definitely not a project boat, and has aged gracefully over her 36 years, in the interest of full disclosure the following are worth noting for perspective on why the price is so low:
• The key issue is an impact on the starboard side that occurred sometime in the past. I tapped it out and am convinced that it is not structurally compromised or delaminated. The gel coat is crazed in a 1.5 foot area, but is not noticeable when the boat is in the water. It has not affected her performance. I would only fix it if a new paint job was the intent because otherwise the new paint would also craze.
• Teak needs some elbow grease. Hull could use another polish.
• Sails (Main and 3 Jibs) are usable but not race worthy although we did take 2nd in one of the races at the National Typhoon race this year.
Price reflects no trailer or motor. Would include the Seagull Silver Century Plus for +$300 if interested.
“MOCO” stands for MOment of COnsciousness – that point in time when everything is perfectly clear.
Boat is located in Lancaster, VA.
