I am thinking of putting in an offer on a '73 Typhoon. The boat is shrink wrapped and has been out of the water for 2 years. In my initial review I discovered it has a broken rudder. Specifically, the rudder is hanging on by the lower of the three pins that hold the rudder blade to the tiller shaft (pardon my terminalogy). It appears the break is due to corrosion.
Right now (and I am sure there will be more) I have two questions:
1) what kind of a job is it to fix/replace the rudder ?
2) can a boat that has been out of the water for 2 years have its hull accurately surveyed (i.e. moisture, etc.).
I look forward to all comments and thanks in advance.
