typhoon spinnaker halyard

Post by Jimmy »

Winter in Michigan is long, but it give me time to work on the boat. This winter the Typhoon Weekender got a new internal spinnaker halyard. It's a fractional rig so the halyard exits about 6 inches above the forestay. It exits just above the main and jib exit blocks. I put a cam cleat mounted to the mast. The whole thing is like a Melges 24 system. I ordered a new North Asymmetrical, I installed a tack line and cleat on the starboard side. I'm having a launch bag for the companionway. I installed new spinnaker turning blocks in the aft. Now if it ever warms up I'll try it out.

Spinnaker on a Typhoon Weekender

Post by Jimmy »

I had a 1/2" aluminum rod, and drilled and tapped 3 holes in it, slid it down the mast track and screwed the angle bracker with cam cleat to it to lock it into place. When you go to drop the spinnaker, you uncleat the tac line on the starboard cabin top and gather in the foot and then reach up and uncleat the halyard and pull it in behind the jib, shoving it into the launch basket in the companionway.
