Lexan for CD 27 hatch

I need to replace the plastic-Lexan? in the forward hatch of our '77 CD 27. Where do I get the replacement, and how is it replaced?

If I were you I would go to a place that does plexi for house doors as my first stop. If that doesn't work, try BOMAR (I think yours will be a BOMAR, mine is on my 1982 CD-27) in New Hampshire. I talked to them once about screens for the forward hatch but don't have the number anymore. I think they have a web presence.

Lexan is much stronger than the plexiglass currently in the hatch.

Most sign companies deal in plexiglass/lexan and it only takes them a minute to cut a new piece from the old one. I replaced the one on my CD27 for about $34.

Try the Yellow Pages under Plastics,There is a product called "hyzod polycarbonate" that is very durable and much more scratch resistant than "plexiglas".
