I am the new owner of a CD10 sailing dinghy. All the wood is bare and weathered. What finish should I use on it? Your wisdom and experiences appreciated!

CD10 wood finish?

Re: CD10 wood finish?
I refinished my CD10 wood once, by sanding it down and putting on four coats of marine varnish and using steel wool in between coats, just make sure you wipe all the steel wool off or it will rust. Don't get any varnish on the fiberglass or it will yellow.I am the new owner of a CD10 sailing dinghy. All the wood is bare and weathered. What finish should I use on it? Teak or mahogany?
My CD 10 was an earlier boat that had mahogany seating and trim. For that you can't forget the cherry stain/filler before the spar varnish coats. Ahhhh.......cherry mahogony......The later CD 10's had teak seating and a full inner liner. I'm not sure how many were made this way as I have only seen one. the guy who sold me my CD 10 had replaced it with a later boat because of the more sufficient floatation. apparently he had had a life threatening experience involving swamping the CD 10. I tried it as an experiment and it barely floated. Caution advised.
