Sailing in South Florida, having A/C is vital, especially when you anchor out and have to keep the mosquitoes away from the cabin. I am considering a recommendation to install a permanent generator on my boat, and an A/C unit inside the cabin. Presently I have a portable one that I carry on top of the middle cabin hatch. It works fine, but only when plugged to shore power. The generator would have to be in the lazarette. It is perfectably doable, but has anybody done this to a Cape Dory yet? All i hear is about solar panels, wind generators, etc., but nothing will give the power needed to run the A/C. Any comments/ Thanks in advance.
