CD 36 Ketch for sale

Post by Timsmale »

Cape Dory manufactured only 36' one ketch in 1984, hull #127, and shipped it to Lake Erie. I acquired it from the original owner in 1997, and cruised the Great Lakes until moving her to the west coast. I spent $60,000 in upgrades, most of them in late 2007 while preparing for a 2-year cruise in Mexico. I will provide a link for pictures soon.

We have had many inquiries about selling her, and if you're are interested, please contact me through this website. As expected during transitions in life, our time frame is not certain, however, we are entertaining all possibilities. Asking price has not yet been set.

Some of her late 2007 upgrades include:
- 4 new AGM maintenance free batteries (separate dedicated starting battery)
- new standing and running rigging
- new lifelines
- new Icom M700PRO SSB and Pactor II modem
- new Ideal windlass with hand-held remote and foot switches
- new 250' chain (with another 300' chain/rode backup and 4 anchors)
- new Kataydn Powersurvivor 40E watermaker
- new GE solar panels and regulator
- new Racor fuel/water separator
- new full cockpit enclosure with bimini (and connected dodger)
- new Technautics "cool-blue" refrigeration, including insulation icebox upgrade
- new Furuno GPS unit, slaved to an older but trusty Si-Tex Nav-Add 8000 T MKII plotter with cartridges from WA to Mexico (East coast cartridges may be still available from a west coast source for very low cost)
- new Uniden and Standard Horizon fixed mount VHF radios
- new 6-person Winslow liferaft
- new Para-anchor by Fiorentino
- new Raritan head (switchable to tank or overboard)
- new blower (mounted in engine room)
- new Rule hi-water alarm
- new engine intake filter/screen

Other upgrades include:
- Propane locker, two bottles, sniffer, and Trident panel
- Princess 3-burner oven
- Force 10 "Cozy Cabin" heater
- wind generator
- Monitor windvane
- Link 2000R meter
- Heart Interface 2000 watt charger/inverter
- 3-stage alternator charger
- Raytheon hailer
- Furuno 24-mile range radar
- Autohelm wheel auto pilot (new wheel unit)
- 2 dinghy's - 1 hard rowing/sailing and 1 rollup inflatable
- 3 HP Yamaha outboard
- rail mounted propane grill
- TV and DVD player
- Stereo system with 4 speakers, equalizer/amplifier and sub-woofer
- 2 handheld VHF radios
- handheld GPS unit
- 2 mounted fans
- Lifesling
- MOB pole
- Tri-color, anchor, and strobe masthead lights
- self-tailing winches
- Ultra bilge switch
- new lower engine gasket kit installed in 2008 for the Perkins 50-hp 4-108 motor.

Freestyle's sail inventory features sails in good condition, and includes a main, mizzen, roller-furler yankee, 3 staysails, and a spinnaker. Electronics include wind speed/knot meter with log, and depth meter, with displays in the nav station and at the steering station.

e-mail me if interested, and I'll send you pictures.
