i have a 1984 30 foot cutter with the waste tank in the keel
does anyone have any knowledge of the structure of this tank
or any idea of the structural integrity of the construction.
I had cracks in the gelcoat in that area on the outer keel.
Any info would be greatly appreciated. Any other 1984 cutters out there?
thank you. Capeadagio@aol.com

Re: waste tank in keel on 1984 CD30Cutter
I too have an '84 30' cutter (hull #321). The waste tank appears to be an actual chamber in the hull structure as opposed to an installed tank. If it is an installed tank, there is no way to get it out for servicing or replacement. On "Cottontail", the waste chamber is under the fiberglassed floor, extending from just aft of the bilge to the area under the engine. The intake hose is directly under the engine and the discharge hose is under the little access panel in the floor in front of the engine access hatch. Also under the floor access panel is an inspection hatch about 6" in diameter that you can open. Looking at the inside of the waste tank through the inspection hatch, preferably after the tank has been emptied and throughly flushed out, shows no evidence of an installed tank. The inside walls looks like rough fiberglass, suggesting the waste tank is not a tank at all but simply a chamber in the hull structure.don massopust wrote: i have a 1984 30 foot cutter with the waste tank in the keel
