Recently I asked the question of how I could determine the level in the head holding tank. Thanks to all that shared their stories. I came up with an easy soulution... On the CD 26 the tank is made out of white hard plastic and is accessable from the top and starboard side. If I place a good flashlight on the top of the tank, enough light penetrates into the tank so that you can see the level on the port side. Sometimes I suprise myself... Hope someone else can use this.

where on your boat is the holding tank? wehat hull #? on my cd26, hull 49, the holding tank is black flexible rubber under the aft portion of the starboard vee berth. i wonder why the change?
Re: How to see the level in the head holding tank
I have a very large tank mounted under the Vberth cintered in the boat. It is a rigid tank. probably 30n gals. The water storage tank is forwad of it. There were only 78 cd26 made and mine was #75. Sorry this didn't help

That's the technique I used on my CD 30 powerboat - until I got lazy and gadget-happy and bought a tank level indicator. It's a panel with LEDs going from empty to full by 1/4 tank increments, and buttons for three tanks. You paste foil sensors on the outside of the tanks at the appropriate levels. Foils go on OUTSIDE of tank ?? Yup.
I would guess they sense any conductive liquid, using capacitance through the wall of the tank. But then I seem to recall they work on metal tanks too - maybe they can tell the difference between metal backed by air and metal backed by liquid.Russell wrote: That is really neat!
What do they sense?
Anyway it sure makes installation easier and less pungent.
