Cleats and hardware for Typhoon Weekender

Post by drossbach »

I am a novice sailer and new owner of an old Ty Weekender in the process of rehab. The prior owner had stripped off most of the cleats and other hardware and covered up the holes so I can't tell exactly what I need. The only cleats remaining on the boat are the bow and stern cleats. There are no other cleats or jam cleats other than what was left on the mast. There are also no travelers or trackers.

Can someone tell me what I need to install (sizes and locations) or send some clear pictures of a properly rigged CD Typhoon Weekender? I will be eternally grateful.

I love this boat and am excited to be part of this community.

I can sympathize - my daysailer was similarly stripped.

You'll need four 5 inch bronze cleats. These are the cheapest I found - half the price of Spartan, but the same thing. Go to e-bay and search for item number 230093212092. These are as original. They go on top of the cabin.

There is a jam cleat that is mounted on the front of the transom deck. I'm going to visit my boat on Saturday and will take a measurement on it.

Mine is a daysailer - you'll need to get someone else to give you measurements on locations for your Weekender.

Best of Luck!

Greatness is not in where we stand, but in what direction we are moving. We must sail sometimes with the wind and sometimes against it-but sail we must, and not drift, nor lie at anchor

These keyhole plates are only on the starboard side. At first I thought that they were for a swim ladder but the wider part of the keyhole is on the outer side. Any ideas of their purpose?

Let me know if you have any questions or need any other close-up pics. My boat will be on the hard for at least another week and will therefore be readily accessible in my backyard.
Aloha,
