What Time Is It?

Post by Oswego John »

Has anyone noticed that the clock that signifies what time you posted seems to be twelve hours off.

Or is it just me?

Click on "Your Settings" link up above and set your time zone appropriately.

perfect world

Post by Dick Barthel »

Thanks for ruining my perfect world OJ. I would have never noticed I was posting an hour behind actual. Following Russell's instructions I went to settings and found a long list of GMT + and - at hour or half hour increments. I started at GMT +5 so I assumed I needed to subtract an hour or add an hour so I changed to GMT +4 and it gave me an absurd result. Obviously this is not as easy (at least for me) as picking your correct time zone or servicing the port scupper seacock behind the engine.

I've informed my wife that I can't possibly do the yard work she suggested we do today until all is right with the Cape Dory Board and that I'm an hour behind. She informed me that in fact I was "a dollar short and a day late."

Thanks again OJ.

With the new setting I'm almost a half a day behind now. Or maybe I'm ahead of my time?

gmt correction

Post by Bill Cochrane »

The time setting for the East Coast of the US is, during daylight savings time, GMT minus four hours; When it's noon at Greenwich, it's only 0800 here.

whaddya mean it's my fault!

Post by Al Levesque »

Thanks Russell. I had never noticed that option in the settings and had been cursing the daylight savings time as well as the US ignorance of the international date convention. Now my view of the board is right and, as usual, it was only me that needed to change!

retiring time

Post by s.v. LaVida »

Dick,

As you noticed many years ago, I stopped wearing a watch.

The only clock I watch is in the sky. sun for day, moon or star for night.

Anchor up with sun, anchor down with moon.

Very simple time keeping for a simple retired guy.

wonder why then everyone is always upset with my arrival, something about not keeping up with the time(s).

Mike,

That's good advice that I'm looking forward to practicing soon.

Setting the time zone...

Post by Cathy Monaghan »

The default for the time is GMT -5 (GMT minus 5) which is for Eastern Standard Time. If you want to change how the time is displayed, you need to change it in your profile by selecting "Your Settings" from the navigation bar and scrolling down to the "Preferences" section. Then change the Timezone to your timezone. Don't forget to scroll to the bottom of the page and click on "Submit".

I've just discovered this part of the situation here in CD heaven but where is everybody? The last post was almost a year ago. I guess every thing is well with the world. JB
