Re: fair market value
In my limited but recent experience, a CD28 in decent but not Bristol condition ought to be worth somewhere around nineteen to twenty-four thousand, contingent on a favorable survey of course.

Re: fair market value
You can try the Boat US web site. They'll give you their valuation. The BoatUS value generally runs approx 10-20% less than the Blue Book values. I asked them about this -- BoatUS says their values are based on the actual prices paid by BoatUS members. According to the BoatUS rep the BUC and Blue Book prices are reported by dealers who have a vested interest in inflating the prices.

Dealer sales are generally 10% or so higher ..
The dealers will argue they are helping the seller by getting a higher price. It is not clear the seller gets more after the extra cost. It is clear the buyer pays more.
Re: fair market value
Judy,
With a good equipment inventory, low 20's is about right. Count on replacing the sails; 20 years is a long time. Get a survey and sea trial!

It will vary depending on the area you are in. Here on Long Island high teens to low twenties is about average. I agree with Neil, get a survey and sea trial, especially with a twenty year old boat. Good Luck, CD's are great boats.
