I'm looking to get into a CD30 this spring and would like to know if anyone has one for sale or knows someone who does. I'm located on Long Island. Thanks in advance for any leads. -Don

Looking for a CD30

Re: Looking for a CD30
Don,
Check out yachtworld.com and search for Cape Dory, 30 feet. There are quite a few listed. I bought Hanalei, CD-30, 1984 last year from Grey & Grey in New Hampshire and they did an adequate job. They have one listed I think for 39K, which is a little steep for an '84 I think, but any price is negotiable. Also, soundingspub.com lists a number of them, some being the same as yachtworld. One thing to think about, look for a CD-30 with a Universal 18, 14hp diesel. It has a straight drivetrain, unlike the "V" drives on other engines. Makes maintainence much easier.
The 30 is a great vessel, good choice! Good luck in your search.

Re: Looking for a CD30
Don - I purchased my CD330 from Eagles Nest Yacht Brokerage in Charleston, SC. The gentelmans name is Dave Watson 843-723-3409 who was the regional salesman for CD. He has sold over 300 CD's (new and used). I was specifically looking for a CD330 which he was able to locate for me. He was very reasonable when it came time to negotiate a price and offers free labor for any upgrades you wish to install at the time of purchase. I took full advantage of his offer and added some new electronics (Radar, GPS), refrigeration and engine maintenance.
If you are fortunate enough to purchase a CD and it is in the Charleston area let me know. I would be more than happy to share my expereinces of bring the boat back to New York. I spend my springs/falls on the Hudson and summers off Cape Cod.
Please pass my regards to Dave if you call him.
Good Luck,
Chris Reinke

Re: Looking for a CD30
Less than a couple of months ago, Tony Betz posted a message about a CD 30 for sale. I believe the boat is still offered for sale by Handy Boats in Falmouth, Maine.

If you don't mind sailing back from Florida there always seems to be a couple for sale in ads down here along with other CD sizes as well.Don wrote: I'm looking to get into a CD30 this spring and would like to know if anyone has one for sale or knows someone who does.
