Thank you to all who responded to my original post especially considering it didn't involve a CD, even though we own a CD30. Your concerns and time were very appreciated. A special thanks goes to John Mottola of Port Townsend who afforded us detailed and helpful information and actually beat the pavement at a couple of boatyards in that area. It's people like John and all of those of you on this CD web site that showed concern that makes owning a boat a pleasure, especially the CD. A special thanks to Mr. Bilofsky for making this message board available. It is experiences like we just went through that makes you realize how valuable a message board like this really can be.
Some info that may be of interest:
Records by a boat yard in Port Angeles showed the boat was picked up by a transport company in Florida on the 10th of December and delivered in Port Angeles on the 21st. NO PROOF OF OWNERSHIP was requested by the transport company before it was loaded for shipment!!! That is a very scary thought for any boat owner! According to boatyard records and a co-operative staff person the boat was launched within days of arriving in Port Angeles. The masts were not stepped. It (37' ketch)was placed into a "boathouse" that was sublet. It was sublet under an alias name. The boathouse was locked and no way for an outsider to see the boat. The boat was in the water. Who would ever think a 37' ketch would be in a boathouse for powerboats.
The internet played a vital role in locating the boat. The authorities ( marine patrol, coast guard, police, sheriff ) were absolutely of no help in any way, shape or form!! It's up to you and your lawyer and kind people like those who are a part of this message board that make all the difference in the world. Thanks everyone!

Congtats!
Glad you located your boat. Hope it doesn't cost you a fortune to get it back. If you catch the thieves there are probably several "Dorians" who will flog them for you. They used to shoot horse thieves, so why not?
Your point about the shipping company not verifying ownership before loading is interesting & scarry ! I once shipped one of my cars from Fl to Chicago. I was required to provide proof of ownership, insurance, ID, registration, etc. At the Chicago end I had to prove it all over again to get my car back.
You'd think something as big as a house would be hard to steal.
Good Luck !!!
