Fairing block

Post by Ron M. »

What is involved in removing/reinstalling the fairing block for my depth sounder ? I've not done this before.
My hull is naked from the waterline to the keel, awaiting barrier coat.
Appreciate any response.

Why remove it?

I was in the same place you are a little less than a year ago. I barrier coated right over the fairing block. I fact after sanding it I gave it a couple of extra coats of barrier. It seemed sound and well sealed so my thinking was to leave well enough alone and add to the bond with barrier coat. If you have doughts you may want to rebed it. I just figured I already had enough to do, Steve.
