Hello,
I'm a documentary producer living in Perdido Key, FL. I've just completed a project and I am researching for my next topic. I have been fascinated with being on the water for 4 years. I have a 17ft powerboat. I know there are stories to be told out there by you folks who live, eat and breath the water. Can anyone give me any input? I'm contemplating a purchase of a much bigger power boat to travel the intercoastal waterway and produce a documentary on a lifestyle that is unique. I've heard many stories about Pirates Cove in Alabama, just a short boat ride from me, but I haven't ventured that way yet. Any ideas or suggetions would be greatly appreciated.

Go to Pirate's Cove. They are still down for repair to some extent, but there will be folks in the bar on almost any day who can tell you stories or point out folks who can. I'd also recommend riding over to Bear Point; talk to Neil Rowell. He's been cruising the Atlantic, Med, & Caribbean for several years.
Talk to Rusty on the Cyrus E. King at Pirate's Cove.
Folks from all over go there, and it's got a little local color, as well. Generally they will have at least one boat staying over for a day or a year between legs.
