Holiday Card/Cruise for All!

As we are well into the holiday season, I thought I'd invite all good Cape Dorians aboard for a holiday cyber cruise. So, by clicking the link below, you agree to certain terms and conditions described (poorly) here; to wear your PFD and harness, to take an occasional night watch, not eat all the cookies before we make landfall, and certainly not to display talents that make the captain's suffer by comparison.

Join us then, trusted crew, aboard Cape Dory 28 #241 Tantalus on a cyber cruise Downeast. We begin our journey fully provisioned in Cuttyhunk, one of the most south western points in Massachusetts. Together we shall explore this foggy coast of New England, port by port, eastward to Maine's Bar Harbor on Mount Desert Island. On our holiday cruise we'll discover new bays, islands, and maybe even a fiord. We will cover just over 300 nautical miles before our journey is complete. Keep your camera ready, for along the way we may encounter whales, seals, loons, and coastal scenes of stunning beauty. We may even run into a few friends along the way. As this is a cyber cruise, foul weather has been prohibited and rain gear will not be required.

But first, a few guidelines are in order. Please note that when you see the boat moving we are on our way to a new port; try not to embarrass us, as the captain alone does this exceedingly well. New towns are noted as we enter new areas. As we cross state lines, the new state is indicated in parentheses. Some scenes will show the boat, or other boats with some lofty object in the background; the next image may show the view from atop that same height. You should see credits roll at the end, but the program does hang up on occasion. If it appears to freeze, just hit the double back button to restart. The presentation does have sound.

While I took these images over a period of ten years, from both my CD28 Tantalus and my prior Cape Dory 25 Sovereign, you can complete the cyber cruise in just over ten minutes after the file has downloaded. So ,dear sailor, turn up the sound and grab your favorite mug while this large file arrives on your machine. Welcome aboard, enjoy the cruise, and of course...

Happy Holidays!
:D

Hi John,

What a joy to see those photos. They brought back memories of our last New England cruise and our last cruise to Maine. I swear we have some of those same photos! Anyway, thanks for sharing.

This is just what the Doctor ordered. It's great to see my "home waters" (Isle of Shoals to Biddeford Pool) again in December. Now I can go back to sanding my brightwork I removed last month.

Christmas morning, I am up before everyone else, dreaming of electronic thingies below the tree. What a wonderful show to remind us all what life is really for, thanks John.
