Do you have line drawings for Typhoon?

Do you have line drawings for the Typhoon? If so, is it possibly to get a copy such that I can make a half model? Thanks.

TY lines

Post by slaume »

I did some searching with the same project in mind a couple of years ago. It seems like the Typhoon lines are protected from duplication. Lines from other Alburg designs are floating around (the TYs are too in the literal sence). As Alburg was some times said to only have designed one boat and just made it different sizes you could get a very good representation of your boat by scaling the lines of a larger CD. You would need some pictures of the rudder area to get it right. If you do come up with a good set of TY lines I am sure there are lots of folks who would like to see them. You can tell the sailing season is drawing to a close when we are starting to think of half models, Steve.

Lines

Post by slaume »

There should be something in the archives. If you do a search on lines or models something should come up to be of some help. I believe there was a professional model builder that did modify the lines from a larger Cape Dory to get a Ty model. If you were to spend a great deal of time you could take the lines off a boat that was hauled out. Kind of a reversal of the original intent of half models. Do let us know if you develop a good set of lines, Steve.

Hi guys,

Don't forget that the message board is only one resource of this web site. Be sure to explore the rest of it.

How do you get to our home page? Just scroll to the top of any page of the message board and click on either the "CDSOA" link or the logo above it. Anyway, here's where you'll find info on half hull models and line drawings.
