Yanmar maintenance

Post by Bob Ohler »

I just thought I'd post a quick note about Yanmar parts. My CD25D has a Yanamr #1GM. A Fram # 3593A oil filter works like a dream and a whole lot cheaper than going to a Yanmar parts counter. I bought one today from the local Ace lumberyard for about $3.50. If K-Mart stocks this, and they stock a lot of Fram filters, I could probably pick up these filters for about $2.50 each. Also, most any Napa Parts store can order just about any part you need for Yanmar, including internal engine zincs, impellers, belts, etc. Now, if we can just K Mart or Walmart to stock Racor fule filter elements, we'd really have something!

A Fram filter #3807A or a Big A 92064 0r 92334 also fit the 1GM or 10 GM. The differences are in the length not in the seal diamenter.

Guys,
IMHO I'd be careful putting oil filters on just cause they fit. There are pressure and flow issues at work here and the filter used should be as specified by the engine manufacturer or a known equivalent

Don

The oil filter I use is cross referenced by NAPA, Wix, Fram and several other manufacturers.

Does a differance in filter lenght change the amount of oil in the engine by virtue of the amount of oil the larger filter holds? I dont know just asking!
