Yanmar Head Gasket

Post by Jim Jamieson »

I am approaching 400-500 hr on the 1GM in my CD25D. I don't believe the head gasket was ever retorqued when the engine was new and wonder if it needs to be done now after all this time. What is the manufacturere's suggestion - I seem to get lots of opinions that range from doing nothing to do it now!

Jim,

The manual requires that you touque the head gasket after 50 hours of use. Following this activity the valves should also be adjusted.
